Hello, everyone! I'd like to introduce the newest addition to our family. Spencer brought her home this morning as an apology, I suppose and I woke up to see him playing with her in the kitchen.
( Wave your wands )
Yes, she was highly fascinated with the camera.
I have yet to figure out a name for her. Half the reason is because she's so cute, she's pretty much just melted my brain. But honestly, I'm usually very picky with names. Anyone have suggestions?
Also, I'd like to give a hearty thank you to the members of the DMLE (including my husband!) for all their hard work.
And I'd like to give a congratulations on my darling Mr. Tibbles who won the regional cat show and is going off to the nationals very soon!

[ Warded Private ]I am looking for a good book to read. Would anyone care to give recommendations?
added a few minutes later There is a leak. I would never thought this might happen. Everyone has information on everyone else.
What would I do? Where would I go and who would I even turn to? Would I need to or would I be locked away? I'm lucky Spencer was not around when the patronus arrived. But it would only take one person to bring us all down.
And then I'll lose him for good. If I have ever felt any sort of attachment to either one of the worlds, it's through him. He is what brings me going back to the library to work and to live, even with Lenore looking at me as if I'm worse than the dirt under her shoe, even if I constantly hear her say that people of "my kind" are not even worth being argued about in a conversation on bloody purity. Do the words hurt? Of course. And that's how I remember them. But it takes one look at my wedding band and knowing that I've been accepted into someone's life that makes me belong.
I was already at a large risk when I agreed but the risk has only now hit me. Whatever may happen, the one thing I fear is seeing the love vanish from Spencer's eyes. What would I do without him? [ End ward ]

[ Warded Private ]I've been absolutely paranoid. Moments after that broadcast, I had to check if both my family and my in-laws were alright. But then I thought, why in the world would they ever target me when they don't know me?
Although I do wish that Spencer would tone down his anti-Purism sentiments. It's risky enough that he's an Auror, and I love the man for being strongly Justinian but losing him would kill me.
And I suppose they TALK about purism but don't really look at who they're hurting, do they? [ End ward ]
[ Warded to the Order ]Gideon and I have a request. Is there anyone who knows anything about setting up private floo networks? Emergency supplies and wards have been put in but there are still more things that we need. Also, we think it's a good idea if we have people test out the wards on the houses as well. Never mind, it's been taken care of.
ooc: crossed out after this but feel free to have your char see this before [ End ward ]

Goodness, it's so hard to get cats to pose for pictures. Perhaps not for everyone, since I've seen the most adorable pictures before but I think my cats just don't like the camera very much. I guess I might as well forget about submitting any of them into cat pageants!
Anyway, I hadn't taken pictures of my eldest in so long that I decided to try for some today. I managed to get her into a few shots but this is one that I'm so proud of. I just had to show it off! Everyone, meet Janie. She's a Persian with a bit of kneazle.

[ Warded Private ]Sometimes I think about what the point is behind arguing. Both sides have their own ideals that they will never break away from, that I wonder if even education would deter them from their views.
And then I think about history. Change never happened by those that threw up their hands and decided that there was no point in picketing, rioting, preaching, or educating. No, change happened when people acted, especially when they were just as angry as this.
I've heard Lenore from Archives talk, without entirely meaning to eavesdrop. It's easy when she pretends I don't exist She, like Mrs. Greengrass, believes that blanketed statements like Mr. Potter's stands for bigotry as well, against Purebloods who simply want to "preserve culture" and it's appalling that they be allowed to speak freely while "her people" can't. It's preposterous. And so very much like Muggles of the recent history. Dissociation can never be complete. Nor can association. We will always be different and yet very much the same. But this doesn't make anyone better than the other. And the need for wanting equality does not translate into willing to do unto the oppressor as they have done unto the oppressed. Nobody is asking to switch lives with the privileged and have the privileged put in their place (God, I hope not, at least).
I could probably tell all this to Lenore and try to see her to get my way but I've tried once already. And she's made her feelings about me absolutely clear. I don't think I want to relive that.
Perhaps, if they don't wish to talk to people directly, they might pick up a book, instead, to learn. [ End ward ]
Diagon Alley Library has started an "librarian recommendations" section for any avid reader looking to take out a book but doesn't know where to begin. Each month, we will put out the title of the book and a review on the book in the journals. And at the library itself, you'll find a whole one shelf full of each employee's monthly selections.
My selection for the month of April is Argonauts of the Western Pacific by Bronislaw Malinowski. It's an especially delightful read for budding anthropologists that not only takes them on an adventure to the Trobriand Islands but is also an extensive instruction book on how to go about conducting ethnographies. One of the notable advice he gives is to step away from the box on the "outside" and assimilate into the group in order to properly understand the inner workings of the culture. Even if one is not interested in actually pursuing this career path, I would still recommend reading it because it's most definitely an eye-opener about one group of people that were once considered uncivilized. You'll see that their society, the customs, languages, and overall behavior is just as complex as that of any other human society in the world.

[ Warded Private ]I really wish Spencer would sometimes stop and think before he says things. I trust Mundungus with all my heart, and I know he's not about to do anything to break that trust. Does he sometimes frustrate me with his living style? Of course he does. Do I think he would ever steal? Never. I don't have to think about it. I know it. I just wish Spencer would learn to trust me when I tell him that.
I hate getting into arguments with him. But he was there and he saw everything from behind his fire spells. It was a horrific display and you can't blame anyone for not wishing to sleep alone under a roof. [ End ward ]
[ Warded to the Order ]Hello. I apologize if it's still a bad time to bring this up, but I was wondering how far we've gotten on the project for making safehouses. With Benjy and Emmeline's help, I've got a list of things as far as Healing essentials go. And if anyone has any other place in mind, like Dorcas's mention of her family's properties, maybe it can be looked into as well. [ End ward ]

[ Warded to the Order ]A brief conversation about the safehouses got me wondering if it really would be possible to turn one of them into a safehouse of our own. I don't mean as a permanent establishment, because if we're required to move somewhere, it might not be a good idea to inhabit one location for such a long time. But I feel like these locations may be used for other purposes other than making broadcasts. Maybe some of the smaller ones could be enlarged from the inside.
If I'm not making sense at this point, I'll give an example. And please, pardon my extreme pessimism here. But say one require medical attention but due to the situation, it would be very suspicious to take them to the hospital or back home to family members. Instead, they're sent to one of these locations that would already be stocked with the necessary supplies plus a small bed for said member to rest in.
Now, I am not able to play around with wards, of course, but should this suggestion be considered, I would like for some person or persons to try it out. If they're not at all good enough but there is potential, we can continue the search for other locations. [ End ward ]

Mr. Philpott's entry had me go nostalgic and think back to when Spencer and I had more time to spend with one another. He was always pushing me to try various types of ethnic restaurants and eat something new at least once a week. Vacations were still not top priority on our list considering he was already an Auror when we even met and he was quite busy, but I've heard numerous stories from before, when he had more time to travel. And his favorite part with traveling was getting to eat a wide variety of things he would never have dreamed he would be eating. (I suppose I should be thankful if I ever ended up burning the lasagna!)
The most unusual meal I've ever eaten is not that interesting, but I've had camel meat. He, however, has had the courage enough to try fugu (puffer fish) when he went to Japan, which, as some of you might have heard, is rather dangerous because if not prepared properly, customers might actually die in their seats. I'm quite glad that he didn't die, but I did tell him never to do that again. He's also tried basashi (real horse meat) and hachinoko (fried bee larvae). I must admit, I am glad I was not around to accompany him on trips like these.
What is the most unusual delicacy or meal you have ever eaten?

I would like to remind visitors of the library that if you are unable to place the books where they originally belong, it is perfectly okay for you to leave them at the reading tables or at the librarian's desk. Please try not to charm them to go on the highest possible shelf in general vicinity.
And that is not a place for empty food containers to be placed either. Please take those with you. We do know when you bring in food even though its generally not allowed. But if you're going to sneak it in, it's preferred that you take everything back out with you.

I've gotten the day off while my husband is still at work and I've taken to rummaging around the house and doing a bit of clean-up. There is far too much junk in the house. Considering Spencer is the one who is usually throwing something out that he doesn't need anymore, I do wonder how we still managed to accumulate things we don't need.
But anyway, I found a small trunk from behind some boxes in the closet and opened it up to find these photographs among many: ( Wave Wand )
The first is from our wedding day. The second, I'm quite sure, is much older than when Spencer and I met but I wouldn't be surprised if he stole some pictures from my parents' family albums. Occasionally, I get gifts that are personalized from earlier pictures that I myself don't even remember anymore. And the third was a cave-exploring adventure that we went on with some of our friends. Unfortunately, I wasn't really feeling that adventurous that day and so I'm pretty sure that's a picture when Spencer pretended to see something horrifying just to scare me.
I was wondering how some of the pictures went missing and now I know where they've been. And then there are some from much further down in the years that have started to make me really miss my youth. Where does time fly?
